Integrated Therapeutic Team (ITT)
The Integrated Therapeutic Team is available to help with any combination of problems clients may have with mental health and/or substance use. An integrative approach focuses on managing challenges to mental health, processing trauma and moderating risky or addictive behaviors in a holistic way that is tailored to meet the client’s own unique needs. Counseling is available in either an individual or group format, sometimes using telehealth technology to make sure you get the support you need for a more healthy life. Our counselors are credentialed and trained to perform at the very highest level of informed, contemporary practice.
Sometimes we find ourselves on a path that is just not right for us and for our family. MPB Group has a highly trained Integrative Therapeutic Team that will guide, explore, and forge a new path for you.

Team Bios
Dr. Sharon Thomas-Parker
LCPC, ICG1, CCTP, Program Director
Dr. Thomas-Parker is a very knowledgeable, outgoing, committed professional who has a very eclectic background in the field of counseling and mediation. She has received specialized training in the treatment of clients with alcohol and/or drug addiction as well as those with gambling, internet, or sex addiction. Dr. Thomas-Parker is skilled working with college students, refugees, asylees, and victims of various forms of trauma, torture and/or domestic violence.
As a therapist, Dr. Thomas-Parker, has had the opportunity to work with couples, adults, teens, families, children and international clients in a multitude of settings. One of Dr. Thomas-Parker's strongest attributes is her ability to help people deal with life events (marriage, death, divorce, birth of a child, dismissal from work, martial separation, imprisonment, personal injury) in an organized, caring manner.
Byran Lee
M.S., LCADC, RPS, HS-BCP
Byran is an experienced therapist who creates a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients to express their struggles and difficulties. He has a wealth of experience helping individuals of all genders and sexual orientations overcome various mental health challenges.
Byran's expertise lies in treating severe mental health disorders, including addictive and substance-related conditions and co-occurring disorders. He takes a personalized approach that encompasses an array of counseling techniques to cater to the unique needs of his clients. His goal is to assist clients in breaking negative patterns and empowering them to cultivate positive changes in their thoughts, emotions, behavior, and beliefs.
Byran received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Baltimore and a Master's in Addiction Counseling from Coppin State University. He is deeply committed to helping his clients achieve better well-being and sustainable, long-term change. He assists clients in overcoming obstacles that may hinder their happiness and fulfillment, providing them with the support they need to thrive.
Sherrie Todd
LCADC
Sherrie Todd is a graduate of University of Maryland Baltimore County with BA in Political Science as well as a Masters in Science from Coppin State University in Counseling. She started her work experience with substance use disorders in the USN as the legal officer aboard USS Yellowstone. After leaving active duty, she began work as a substance abuse/ addiction counselor in 1989. She has worked in various modalities to include Methadone Maintenance, out-patient services, partial hospitalization as well as semi-independent recovery services. She earned her license as Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in 2000. Since licensure, she has supervised and managed counselors in the following treatment settings: out-patient services, methadone/suboxone and vivitrol maintenance as well as co-occurring treatment services. She joined MPB Group in April of 2017 working as a part time integrative therapist, which she thoroughly enjoys; helping clients find their way to their best selves.
Valentine Akpa
LGPC
Valentine Akpa is licensed in Maryland, New Jersey and the District of Columbia. He focuses on enabling individuals rediscover themselves. Valentine typically utilizes an integrative approach, but focusing more heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy.
Valentine’s client population includes children, adolescents, adults, parents and minority populations. He has broad experiences in both hospital and outpatient clinics providing psychosocial support to individuals who present with behavioral and mental health challenges such as unhealthy family dynamics, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, grief/loss. Also, is an ACPE Pastoral Psychotherapist. He has broad experiences facilitating spirituality groups and spiritual accompaniment.
Valentine holds a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins.
Mikaela Kim
LCPC
Mikaela Kim, LGPC, has a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology and experience serving clients of various ages and cultural backgrounds in an outpatient clinic setting. In treating clients with trauma, Mikaela addresses coping and relationship patterns as well as underlying psychological and emotional needs. Mikaela integrates empirically derived approaches and provides services that are tailored to clients' life circumstances, preferences, and values.
Angelica Darling
LCPC, INTAKE THERAPY TEAM LEAD
Angelica Darling is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, who has been working in the field since September 2019. She graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2020, with a M.A. in Forensic Psychology, and received her counseling license not long after graduating. Her experience includes working with high school aged students battling emotional and behavioral concerns, conducting clinical interviews, and helping individuals of all ages and backgrounds dealing with anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.
As a growing professional, Angelica strives to learn from her clients just as much as she teaches them. Her goal is to help her clients see that they can dominate their worries and fears, while letting go of what they cannot control. As your clinician, Angelica will tailor her style to what suits you best. While this clinician usually operates from a CBT approach, she also incorporates talk therapy, and approaches designed to highlight an individual’s strengths to empower them. Angelica’s style allows her clients to feel at ease and provides them with a space to unapologetically be themselves. Change may be scary, but with Angelica, at least you will not have to go through it alone.
Tonya Mackin
LGPC
Tonya earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) currently licensed in the state of Maryland. She has over 5 years of experience working with adults and adolescents diagnosed with mental illness, trauma, substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders.
She is an empathic therapist who takes a person-centered approach to assisting clients on their pathway to well-being. She believes the therapeutic relationship is an important partnership and clients should have an active role in the work necessary to facilitate the changes one desires. She uses an eclectic theoretical methodology which includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Tosha Hairston
LGPC
Tosha Hairston is a licensed graduate professional counselor in the state of Maryland. Tosha received her B.S. from Boston University in Psychology, Cambridge, MA and her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.
Tosha’s client population includes children, adolescents, adults, parents, and minority populations. She has experience providing psychosocial support to individuals who present with behavioral and mental health challenges including relational challenges, ADHD/ADD, Bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety low, self-esteem, and addiction.
Tosha’s approach to clinical work is integrative, often pulling from principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and relational cultural theory and person-centered therapy. She strongly believes in meeting the individual where they are and empowering them to make safe and fulfilling choices.
Tosha possesses a deep fondness for both music and dance. During the weekends, you’ll frequently discover her actively engaging in dance activities, either as a participant or taking on the role of a choreographer.
